"J" Design 
Non-Adjustable Packing

Patented "J" - design non-adjustable packings are the result of extensive engineering and testing programs. The design incorporates sealing rings constructed with a rigid core to resist crushing, surrounded with flexible, resilient sealing lips. The lips are backed up by hard composite adapters designed specifically for these sealing rings. This combination of construction features, along with flattened support surfaces, prevent the usual flaring and crushing that occur from excessive gland or fluid pressure.

"SF" design V-Packings are one of the most popular sealing designs on the market today. The unique design seals well in reciprocating, centrifugal, and static applications. The flexibility of the design allows the "SF" rings to seal at a wide range of pressures under almost any conditions.
     The "SF" design seal rings incorporate a hinge-like feature in the center of each ring. This hinge area allows the sealing lips to remain in contact with the surface being sealed without putting undue stress on the sealing ring itself. The "SF" design seal ring is designed with mating surfaces that provide a void to exist between rings acting as a lubrication reservoir. This design helps retard nesting, allows rings to relax between cycles, and allows lubrication to reach all sealing rings.

"SSF" Design V-Packing

     "SSF" Design V-Packings incorporate twice the amount of material in their construction as the standard "SF" Design V-Packings. This extra material allows our "SSF" design sealing rings to resist rollover and distortion commonly seen in v-packings where excessive load and/or pressures are present. The result is a heavy duty, critical service packing that is able to withstand higher pressures and loads than other standard design packings.
     "SSF" Design V-Packing is recommended for use in large diameter applications where high pressure and loads are common, such as well servicing and hydraulic applications. This design is very effective in slurry applications when used with the Utex Header Ring. A wide variety of material compositions are available for most applications. "ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Ring

Utex Industries has significantly increased the sealing capabilities of Standard v-packings with the creation of our "ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Ring. This design works extremely well in applications where high pressures are present. Although designed originally for reciprocating pumps, the "ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Rings are now being used successfully in centrifugal and hydraulic applications.
     The secret to the success of this design is the amount of material used in each ring, combined with the engineered angles proven in high pressure situations. The extra material gives the "ASF" ring greater anti-extrusion ability plus over two (2) times the normal leakage path of a standard design v-ring. Another advantage of this design is the need for one adapter only. The flat top portion of the ring needs no special shaped adapter to make it fit a standard stuffing box, while also eliminating high stress caused by standard v-shaped adapters. The use of our "ASF" ring also allows you to use one sealing ring in place of multiple ring setups of the past. All of these features combine to make the "ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Ring one of the most versatile packings on the market today.

 Header Ring
for use where
Slurries And Other Large Particle Containing Fluids

The Utex Header Ring is designed primarily to be used with our "SSF" and "ASF" design v-rings where slurries and other large particle containing fluids are being pumped. The unique design of the Utex Header Ring keeps the product being pumped from working its way into the seal ring area and causing premature failure. At the same time, the Utex Header Ring acts as a spring to create a non-adjustable packing set. This adds greater service life to your packing and also cuts down on the maintenance time commonly associated with slurry pump applications.
     The Utex Header Ring is also available in three configurations for various applications. The most popular design wipes the outside diameter of a shaft or plunger. Another version is available for piston applications which wipes the inside diameter of a cylinder. A third version of the header ring is available with a flat top to be used with compression type packings.
     The Utex Header Ring comes in a wide variety of homogeneous compounds ranging from nitriles for general service, to flourocarbon elastomers for more severe applications. "KF" Design Hydraulic Ram Seals     Utex "KF" design seal has taken the place of ordinary hydraulic ram seals. Engineered

to provide service, this one-piece seal "floats" in the stuffing box without the need for pedestal or filler rings. This unique design is more cost effective and can be used in existing boxes with none of the expensive modifications required of other products.
     The Utex "KF" seal needs no adjustment since it is designed to "float" in existing stuffing boxes. Simply tighten the gland metal to metal and the seal is ready to perform. No break-in lubricant is necessary and no special adjustments are required. The "KF" seal has been field tested in various hydraulic applications, and in all cases the seals have performed successfully, even in the constant bumping action seen in large hydraulic presses.
     The Utex "KF" seal is available in many standard materials, as well as special engineered compounds such as those necessary for fire retardant phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids.
     The standard "KF" seal is available in polyurethane or in a rubber/fabric composition. The polyurethane is extremely flexible, easy to install, abrasion resistant, high tensile strength, water resistant, and low coefficient of friction make it a superior material choice for any general service application.
     The rubber/fabric composition "KF" seal has oil-resistant elastomeric sealing lips backed by a fabric composition heel. This unique combination allows the seal lips to respond instantly to any changes in pressure without affecting the performance of the seal. Will not suffer from compression set that can cause leakage at low pressures. The increased volume of material in the heel will help resist rolling during service, while increasing the wear capabilities far beyond other seals.

WF Design Short Stack Packing

     Utex WF Design Short Stack packing is designed to seal automatically in dynamic applications where stuffing box space is limited. The unique design does not require adapters that waste space in many other designs. Since no adapters are used, you can stock individual rings instead of sets which allows you more flexibility.
     The automatic sealing design of our WF rings means less gland pressure is necessary to actuate the seal. This allows the packing to run cooler and longer than other packing of similar design.

     Molded under high temperatures and pressures, Uron Piston Cups are tough and abrasion resistant. Type CA cups are recommended for hot and cold oils, water or oil based fluids, mild chemicals and acids, and many other services.

Utex WQ and WWF design packings are an engineered approach to sealing that take the place of two piece and three piece packings. Neither design requires top or bottom adapters, and both are capable of sealing effectively across a wide range of applications.
     The WQ Style 0380 (Homogeneous Rubber) is available in cross-sections from 3/16" to 1 1/4" size, either continuous or cut to size. Cut this style to size and vulcanize the ends together for a seal in minutes.
     The WQ Style 0808 (Fabric Reinforced Composition) Centrifugal Pump packings are available prepackages in sets for the most popular pumps. The sets consist of WQ design rings in combination with a lantern ring and a braided ring. The tough, abrasion resistant nitrile WQ rings seal without scoring the shaft and need little adjustment once installed.
     The WWF Style 0881 rings are fabric reinforced nitrile in our proven WWF design configuration. The ring is a direct replacement for the old fashioned U-Cup, but the WWF ring does not require the pedestal ring necessary for the other design. Style 0881 rings are available in standard and engineered compounds.

"CV" design V-Packing is a low profile, hingeless design V-packing developed for use in various applications. Since "CV" packing allows it to perform well in most applications where standard v-packing has been working while taking up only a fraction of the space. This space saving feature permits design engineers to use smaller stuffing boxes and allow for more space in other areas.     The hingeless design of "CV" packing is preferred in applications where contamination is critical such as USDA and FDA regulated industries.

The "CV" design sealing rings have engineered angles that prevent any build-up from occurring, therefore reducing the possibility of contamination. These engineered angles also help retard nesting common in other designs. All of these design features combine to produce a packing that is very effective at both low and high pressures with little of no gland adjustment required.
     The standard adapters furnished with our standard "CV" design packing sets are made of resilient glass modified nylon specially compounded to meet the performance requirements set forth our customers. "CV" packing are available in a variety of material compositions including homogeneous rubber, rubber/fabric composites, and polyurethane. We can develop special compounds to fit your exact needs.
     Standard Elastomers: Nitrile, Neoprene, EPDM, Silicone, Fluorosilicone, Aflas, Epichlorohydrin, Fluorocarbons and SBR.

     This packing is extremely resistant to overtightening which result in longer packing life, reduced maintenance costs, and overall superior performance. The added valve of decreased stuffing box wear makes Utex "J" design packing the most sensible solution to your sealing problems.
     Each set of Utex "J" design packing consists of two or more units of packing. Each unit of packing contains one top adapter, one sealing ring, and one bottom adaptor. One set is sufficient to pack one stuffing box. Utex "J" design packing is designed for use in all reciprocating equipment in a broad range of service applications. As with packing, Utex recommends adequate lubrication always be applied directly to the packing area.
